Artist
Statement While I have experimented
with sketching, painting and sculpting, I always found
my inspiration in the world of nature. Photography
offered me the purest form of representation. As a
photographer, I create nothing. I am merely capturing
moments in time, moments in place. Light and shadow,
focus and blur, color and contrast, these are the
photographers pallet. All of my photos are “real” and
have not had anything digitally added or removed from
the original scene. Filter use is limited to polarizers
and graduated neutral density filters. The goal is to
recording what the eye sees, without regard for the
limitations of the medium.
Philosophy
The
camera lens has changed the way I view the world. My
attention is drawn to light and color thoughout the day.
Whether viewing the expanse of a landscape or the detail
of a bug, the camera is rarely out of my mind. Everyday
I am awestruck by the beauty around me. I hope you enjoy
viewing the world though my eyes, if only for a
moment.
Equipment I use Canon
photographic equipment fo all of the photos on this
page. The vast majority of the photos were taken
in digital format with a handfull of slides that I
scanned. The last 4 years I have been using the
EOS 20d, and EOS 5D. This year I upgraded to the
EOS 5D MII for most of my work and the EOS 50d for
telephoto work. Tripods are made by Gitzo, and GND
filters by Cokin. For photo printing I use an
Epson 3800 for most work with my Epson R1800 relegated
to printing panoramas.
